Becoming one of the Oratorical and Debate Council’s (ORADEC) youngest competitor, Ramon Victor Roxas Jr., Associate in Health Science Education (AHSE) freshman student, garnered two championships in extemporaneous speech competitions.

Trained by Prof. Joeven Castro and Weber Amores, Roxas won a regional extemporaneous speech contest of the Young Men’s Christian Association(YMCA) in Manila last October 13. Other competitors were from National Capital Region.

He also ranked first in the Inter-School Extemporaneous Speech Contest sponsored by Far Eastern University’s Negotiorum Lex last November 19. Roxas stood out from speakers from Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University Lipa, Trinity University of Asia, La Consolacion College, San Sebastian College-Recolectos and University of Santo Thomas.

The competition was judged by Prof. Celia Bonija of University of the Philippines and Phillip Fullon of College of St. Benilde. “Roxas has the potential to become one of ORADEC’s greatest and youngest extemporaneous speakers in this time,” stated Castro in a press release. - John Richard Castillo
